Haflong, 12, April 2023 : ‘Parsem Kut’, the festival of Khelma tribes was celebrated by the Khelma community of Dima Hasao on 11 April 2023.
The celebration at Umrangso was attended by CEM Debolal
Gorlosa along with two MACs Joysing
Durong and Nobojit Hojai.
The ‘Parsem Kut’
is recognized as local Holiday under NC Hills Autonomous Council in Dima Hasao
district.
‘Par’ in Khelma, means ‘flower’, ‘Sem’ means
‘distribute’ or ‘share’ or ‘give’, while ‘Kut’ means ‘Festival’. Hence, ‘Parsem Kut’ means the festival of
‘sharing’ or exchanging of flowers’.
During the ‘Parsem Kut’ the boys and girls presented
‘flowers’ each other to show good relationship.
. Parents will bless the youth, give blessings to boys
and girls and pray for their good and health life. They will seek God’s help
that the youth of the community may have successful life.
